Miracles of Faith Church

Miracles of Faith is a nondenominational church, located across from the football field in Collinsville , Oklahoma, founded in 1963. Three years ago we changed locations, from 21st & Plum to 19th & Maple Street. Our 21st & Plum facility now houses our 6th - 8th graders, G-Force as they are called. We are a ministry founded on biblical principles. We focus on the Word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit. We serve in a spirit of excellence with integrity and compassion for our community, our nation and our world. We have a call to reach the lost, especially the despised and rejected, to minister and serve them with the utmost level of dignity and respect. We are recognized for our devotion to children’s ministry from babies to High School. Our desire is to train them up knowing God for themselves and knowing how to apply His Word to their daily lives, which is able to set them free and transform their lives into the full life that Jesus died for us to have. The environment at Miracles of Faith, inspires maximum participation, promotes personal growth and satisfaction, and supports and molds effective leadership.

It was in 1963 that our founder, Sister Opha Carney (best known as Sister Carney) began to take food and clothes to Native Americans in the Collinsville area. This began an outreach that would connect her with people in the area. The late Darrell Ervin of Skiatook was having church here on this corner in an old house. The wood plank floor was so bad that women would break the heels off their shoes between the planks; it was known as The House of Refuge. She had been preaching for him and he asked if she would buy the house. She began to pray about it. She was living in Tulsa at the time and she had cancer. She would drive to Collinsville to preach and on the drive home would nearly pass out from blood loss. Praying about the decision to Pastor this church she would drive up on Cincinnati hill, by where she lived and pray at night. It was there that she got her direction from the Lord to move to Collinsville, obey him and He would heal her of the cancer, which He did. She and my dad, Larry, were walking and praying over the lot where the "House of Refuge" was located and God spoke to her and told her to build a church and even showed her where on the property to build it. She couldn’t get a man to get a loan with her, but she and Sis. Minnie Thomas borrowed the money. My grandfather and men of the church built it and the house was torn down. She incorporated it and renamed the church Miracles of Faith – since the church was a miracle and it had been accomplished by faith.

God’s word over this ministry is that it will be streams of living water flowing out to the four corners of the world. It has been just that as ministers have been sent out from the church into all walks of life, as well as the surrounding area in Collinsville and many other parts of Oklahoma, the reservations of Arizona and New Mexico, Central & South America, Mexico, Africa, Israel. One can only guess how far Sister Carney’s influence has reached. It will continue to expand and fulfill the call of God. We have current missions in Mexico, Switzerland and we are in the process of starting a Bible School in Kenya, East Africa. We help to support orphanages in Reynosa, Mexico and in Homabay, Kenya.

Miracles of Faith is located at 1902 W. Maple Street in Collinsville, across the street from the High School football field.
