What to Expect

Saturday Service Times
Classes which focus on relevant Bible topics for babies through adults meet on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. An informal discussion group for young adults (ages 19-35) begins a bit later at 9:50 a.m. and is hosted by Pastor Pierre. Our Worship Service follows at 10:45 a.m.

Dress
Don't worry about what to wear to our church. There's no dress code. Some like to dress up in "suit and tie," some wear business casual, some wear jeans. Just be yourself and wear whatever is comfortable for you.

Worship
The format of our Worship Service is similar to many other Christian denominations and includes singing, prayer, a special feature for the children, and an inspiring message from our pastor or guest speaker. Pastor Pierre is known for his interesting, relevant, Bible-based messages which are laced with just enough humor to make them appeal to young and old alike.

Greeters
Our friendly hosts are in the church atrium on Saturday mornings to assist you in finding classes and restrooms, or in whatever way they can. Just tell them what you need and they will get you taken care of.

Music
Music at First Tulsa is a mixture of familiar Christian hymns and contemporary praise songs. The singing is led by a group of talented musicians accompanied on the electronic keyboard, organ, or piano.

Meals
On about two Saturdays per month, a delicious, complimentary vegetarian meal is served to visitors in the fellowship hall after the morning worship service. The fellowship hall is located in the west end of the school building which is across the parking lot from the church.

About Our Pastor
Pastor Pierre Monice came to Tulsa in June of 2007 and soon won the hearts of our congregation. Besides being a preacher whose Spirit-filled sermons are dynamic and interesting, he shows genuine Christian love and caring as he relates to our church family members and the community.

Although he is one of the youngest Adventist pastors in North America, Pastor Pierre has had years of experience in sharing the Gospel. He says he first felt the call of God to ministry at age 15 when he became the youth leader of his local church in Florida. Under Pastor Pierre’s guidance the church’s youth group grew from 10 to over 40 young people in two years. As a theology major at Southern Adventist University he conducted a successful revival for a congregation in Lexington, Kentucky. A series of evangelistic meetings he held in Cartersville, Georgia resulted in six persons making the decision to allow Christ to be Lord of their lives. Pastor Pierre has preached at numerous youth rallies and camp meetings. His ministry as a summer camp counselor helped several young campers decide to give their hearts to Jesus and be baptized. Pastor Pierre is quick to give the credit for his soul-winning success to the work of the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Pierre has innovative plans for enriching our congregation spiritually and sharing God’s love with the community. He wants to give every member the opportunity to use their God-given gifts and talents in ministry. He is especially eager for young people to be active in the church. “I feel that one reason the Lord has put me in the position of being a full-time pastor while I’m only 22 is to help motivate other young people to become involved in the church. I hope it will be a source of inspiration and encouragement to them,” says Pastor Pierre.
